Instructional objective(s):
Students will be able to understand the techniques of persuasive writing and will use those tools to write a proposal stating which force causes greater devastation.
Students will know and be able to understand credible website and how to cite references.

While students are researching information for the events they have chosen for the man vs. nature project, teachers will provide mini lessons on various topics.
Teacher 1 will hold a 30 minute mini lesson on finding credible websites, while teacher 2 explains how to summarize information found on the internet and in books.
On the following class day, teacher 2 will also hold a mini lesson on citing sources for all students.

For mini lessons, students will be broken into small heterogeneous groups. Students will float in and out of various mini lessons over two days as needed. When students are not in mini lesson, they will be researching the events they selected for man vs. nature project.

Ongoing assessment(s): Students will be in and out of mini lessons depending on need and time. Each student must report on Edmodo what he/she did during classroom for that day and what they need to do in order to finish researching and move to the next phase of project. Teachers will also be doing random check points with students to see their progress. Accommodations and extensions: Students will receive more or less attention in mini lessons depending on their needs. The time frames in station may vary depending on the strengths/weaknesses of the student.
Backup plan: Should the technology not work or be available, we will look at writing samples, books, and magazines for mini-lessons.
